Where Should I Put My Books?

If you love reading (and collecting books) like I do, then there must be at least a time when you just don't know where to put your books.

I often felt it - usually after an impulsively book shopping.

My room is not that big enough to be stocked with piles and piles of books. Or their bookcases. And that, sometimes, shelves and bookcases are just either to plain or too much to be seen.

Aren't they?

Apple Pastry, Anyone?

Yummy!

This apple pastry was the best that I have since, um... 10 years ago? Yes, it's quite difficult to find the perfect apple pie (or pastry) around here. They are always too sweet.

A Slice of Lava Cake

Yummy!

A cup of tea in the afternoon? Well, I already had one this morning.

So I chose to bake six small lava cakes to complete my day. Six chocolate cakes with melting chocolate inside it. Yummy.

Used Bottles

In a world that is getting worse for living, I decided to welcome the green-living style into a part of my own world. That is why I am planning to use a lot of  recycled things for my house decoration.

Instead of buying new closet and shelves to match the color theme, I choose to revamp them. Instead of throwing away those used bottles, I choose to use them for decoration.

Good Morning, Mountain Cabin!

My inspiration on decorating my house (or rooms) are always based on beach themed decoration. Those breezy, windy, light atmosphere that I love.

But this morning, instead of thinking about another beach house, I tried looking for a different thing: a mountain cabin.

Bedroom Project: When I Fell in Love

My favorite spot...
My first revamping project was to paint my book shelves, from cheesy brown to casual white. Another cheesy brown closet was also painted white.

I was amazed with the effect. The similar tone color between the furniture and the wall definitely made my room felt bigger, and brighter. And yes, white is the easiest pick since I am a rookie.

Tips on Dining Room

For these few days, my focus is still on how to redecorate my dining room. Yes, it is a new one, and I just can not wait to invite some people for dinner. Or to have dinner with my husband in it.

So, I have been reading some tips on decorating the dining room and browsing lots of dining room decoration pictures. Three elements that I have found essential for my dining room decorating project are:

Veranda or Patio?

For me, a veranda (or also known as patio) is a place for friends and family to gather informally. At least, more casual than sitting around the dining table.

It could be a place for coffee/tea and novels on a sunny afternoon, or simply a different place to have an easy breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning.

Better Homes and Gardens

Frankly speaking, I learned all the decorating tips from internet and chats. I did not have any formal background in interior design or house decorating - yet I will enroll one if there was a course on it in my city.

Since I'm doing it for myself (and that includes my husband), this kind of learning suites me well. I'm also learning by doing.

Why Another Blog?

Half a year ago, I got fed-up with my tiptop messy bedroom. And on that exact moment, I realized that the only way to fix it was by redecorating my room - totally. It was not merely a project to heal my room, but also to heal my soul.

Yup. How could I possibly winding up my soul in it? In other words, messy-cluttered-disorderly room could do you bad.
