For me, a veranda (or also known as patio) is a place for friends and family to gather informally. At least, more casual than sitting around the dining table.
It could be a place for coffee/tea and novels on a sunny afternoon, or simply a different place to have an easy breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning.

So, as shown above, my perfect veranda will probably have a set of small dining table - or large coffee table - with comfortable seats. But not too much. It also will have plants for decoration, shelves and baskets for all the clutter, and a simple tropical room design so the air can flow easily.
